She was speaking on the backdrop of growing suicide rates in the country.  She told Sunday Scoop, “Nothing in life is worth committing suicide over. It is said that when there is life, there is hope. About 30, 000 children below 14 years in primary and junior secondary schools ?are suffering from various eye diseases in Jigawa State. An eye specialist and head of eye clinic at Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital in Dutse, Dr Abdullahi Idris, who disclosed this during a roundtable meeting between the ministry of health officials, media and the team from the Health and Development Support Programme, said out of over six million people in Jigawa state about 2.4 million are children, adding that about 30,000 of these children have one eye disease or the other. Idris said that out of the total figures, 20 percent are suffering from cataract, about 20 percent have Glaucoma, 20 percent suffer from scar, 10 percent ROP while about 30 percent are suffering from other common eye diseases. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Benin Zonal Office has arrested a suspected internet fraudster, Michael Ehizele. The suspect was arrested in collaboration with a sister security agency. Upon his arrest, three phones and an exotic car, Benz C300 AMG were recovered from him. The suspect has made useful statement and will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are complete. The arrest of the alleged internet fraudster is in line with the directive of the acting Executive chairman, Ibrahim Magu to rid the society of internet fraud and cyber crime.

The police in Ogun State have arrested a 19-year-old apprentice welder in the Agbado area of the state, Kehinde Adeoye, for the murder of his friend, Lukman Olawunmi, aged 17. City Round learnt that Adeoye and Olawunmi, who was learning how to make cans, had an issue over an umbrella and a sum of N200, which resulted in the tragedy. It was gathered that a man had brought the umbrella to Olawunmi about two weeks ago for repairs. The deceased was said to have taken it to Adeoye, who worked with his father at a nearby welding workshop. Our correspondent gathered that Adeoye collected N200 to repair the umbrella and promised to fix it the following day. Adeoye was said to have failed to repair the umbrella while the owner kept disturbing Olawunmi. He reportedly met with Adeoye around 7pm on Tuesday, asking him to return the umbrella and the money immediately.
